Cultural life at the seaside is booming: The Hanseatic towns are perfect for sightseeing. Popular destinations for day trips are the German maritime museum, the Ozeaneum in Stralsund, the shipping museum in Rostock and the Warnemünder pier. Something very typical of the North and beautiful to look at is the red Brick Gothic.

But also the smaller towns have many attractions: In the monastery of Ribnitz-Damgarten – the amber city – the German amber museum presents Germany's largest amber collection. Here you can learn everything about the "sea's gold". In the open jewellery manufacture in Ribnitz you can experience at first hand the art of manual jewellery production.

The city of Barth hosts the so-called Vineta-festival on a swimming stage in its harbour. You can also visit a Vineta museum and a bible centre here. The Störtebeker festival in Ralswiek on its unique natural stage is not to be missed. Every year the fascinating adventures of the infamous pirate Klaus Störtebeker enthral the audience.

In autumn many restaurants along the coast serve a variety of regional specialities. During the Culinary Weeks friends of the rough sea and of fine foods get together to celebrate all things tasty. Of course also our hotel Namenlos invites you to join in and try some of the culinary fireworks.

Many events also take place in Ahrenshoop itself: a jazz festival, the traditional herring ton whacking, summer pottery and the long night of art are just a few examples of what the cultural programme has to offer. For further information on cultural events in Ahrenshoop please contact our local administration office (www.ahrenshoop.de).
